A new smart system was introduced and activated in Abu Dhabi on April 15 to detect vehicles on the roads with expired registration. By law, driving a vehicle with expired registration is a serious offence in the UAE and motorists can be penalized heavily for committing this offence.

18,640 Vehicles with Expired Registration Seized in Abu Dhabi
As many as 18,640 vehicles with expired registration were seized in the first two weeks of the operations of the newly installed smart traffic monitoring system in Abu Dhabi. These are big numbers considering that this is the collective data of only two weeks. Motorists have been found guilty of committing this violation over and over again despite the warnings issued by authorities and strict penalties that can be levied on motorists for driving vehicles with expired registration.
The Abu Dhabi Police revealed traffic stats for this particular violation recorded by the new smart system and urged motorists to follow traffic rules in order to ensure the safety of all motorists. Penalties for Driving a Vehicle with Expired Registration
According to the Article 25B of the Traffic Law in the UAE, driving a vehicle with expired registration can levy a fine of AED 500, four black points issued against the offender’s driving license and confiscation of the vehicle for seven days.
