Classically proportioned and undeniably gorgeous, the 2018 Aston Martin DB11 is being called the most efficient and powerful “DB” ever produced by the British brand. Debuted at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, this powerful vehicle is an “Exemplary Grand Tourer” that was launched to replace the highly celebrated DB9.
This curvaceous beauty is the first model that is launched as part of Aston Martin’s “second century” plan in which the brand will launch 7 new vehicles in 7 years. The designers and engineers at Aston Martin have brought multiple changes to the vehicle, including a brand new V8 engine and a convertible body style.
Available in coupe and convertible (Volante), this Grand Tourer has an aggressive exterior that demands respect and an interior that is designed to put first every single comfort of the occupants before anything else. The cabin has a large variety of comfort and convenience features that the occupants will enjoy along with some latest technological features.
Here is a review of the 2018 Martin DB11 where we take a closer look at its magnificent design, superior performance, safety features and a lot more.
Design of the 2018 Aston Martin DB11
Within a few years, the 2018 Aston Martin DB11 has become an iconic vehicle that is instantly recognizable by its design. The exterior has been designed to appear aggressive and aerodynamic for enhanced performance while the cabin has been laced with premium materials that take the comfort of the occupants to an entirely new level.
Exterior
The exterior of the all-new Aston Martin DB11 has been designed to be bold and dynamic. Even from the very first glance, this Grand Tourer looks wider and longer than before. The stance of the vehicle is low and wide to embrace the iconic look of the DB series. The designers have brought multiple changes to the bumpers, added new side skirts and a race-inspired diffuser at the rear to enhance the performance of the vehicle.
The iconic grille at the front has been updated to become wider and larger than before. The 2018 DB11 still features the signature clamshell hood at the front and Aston Martin Aeroblade at the rear to add to the aerodynamics of the Grand Tourer without affecting the flow of the design.
The 2018 DB11 has a new bonded aluminum body structure that makes it lighter and stronger than before. At the front of the vehicle are all-new LED headlights that blend in with the signature clamshell bonnet perfectly. Another element that is new to the 2018 Aston Martin DB11 is the dramatic roof strake that also improves the quality of ride and makes it look good at the same time.
The sides are chiseled to have sharp lines that flow all the way to the rear of the vehicle and meet with the new LED blade tail lights for a striking appearance. To enhance the performance and stance of the vehicle, the Grand Tourer has been fitted with 20-inch 10-spoke Silver Diamond Turned wheels.
In order to add to the sporty appeal of the vehicle, the designers at Aston Marin have added Dark Anodised brake calipers as well as Gloss Black splitter, diffuser and sills to take the look of the vehicle to the next level.
For the first time ever, the DB11 will be available in a convertible body style as the 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante. The British brand is calling it the “modern-day interpretation of the coveted DB Volante” that will complete the DB11 family. Designed to bring the same grand touring experience with an exhilarating open-top drive, the DB11 Volante is making this prestigious lineup even better.
The convertible will have a new roof with the “K-fold” design that will maintain the sculpted roof look when opened. The top can be opened at up to 31mph and its reliability has been tested 100,000 times successfully at the Death Valley and the Arctic.
