Hyundai announced the N Performance sub-brand back in 2013 which aimed to develop performance-oriented vehicles. After 4 years, the brand has finally revealed the first production vehicle with the N-Badge in the form of “Hyundai i30 N.”
The 2018 i30 N has been developed at Nurburgring where it completed 10,000 km at the Nordschleife to prove its potential as a high-performance hatchback. The i30N brings superior performance along with dashing good looks, which is a characteristic feature of Hyundai’s N Performance division. The aggressive bumpers, red character lines and big air intakes all add to its overall sporty appearance and race-inspired performance.
A turbocharged engine, race-bred suspension and superior chassis ensure an unparalleled performance in a small car, thus making i30 N an exciting entry to the hatchback segment. Here is a review of the 2018 Hyundai i30 N with a closer look at its design, performance and highlighting features.
Exterior of the 2018 Hyundai i30 N
Based on the Hyundai N Concept RN30 and the standard i30 vehicle, the 2018 Hyundai i30 N brings a sportier and more aerodynamic hatchback that offers an excellent performance both on the road and race track. With smooth lines and sharp edges, the i30 N strikes a perfect balance between refinement and aggression in its design.
The designers at Hyundai have found the perfect middle-ground so that exterior of the vehicle depicts true racing spirit without being too flashy. The dynamic exterior boasts of the characteristic Hyundai Cascading Grille, larger air intakes and the “N” badge right at the front of the vehicle.
The red character line below the front grill along with the black headlight bezels add to the sporty and aggressive look of the hatchback. To further enhance the sporty appearance of the vehicle, Hyundai has added horizontal daytime running lights with LEDs for better exterior aesthetics.
Depending upon the trim levels, the 2018 i30 N will either have 18-inch or 19-inch wheels. The rear of the vehicle features a black aerodynamic rear spoiler with triangular brake light to augment the exterior appeal of the vehicle, especially when it is in motion at higher speeds. The rear bumper has been redesigned to maintain the vehicle’s overall sporty look and to differentiate it from the simple i30 hatchback.
The 2018 Hyundai i30 N will be available in the market with the exclusive Performance Blue exterior, while the other exterior options include Clean Slate, Polar White, Micron Grey, Phantom Black and Engine Red colors.
