Dubai makes strong strides towards the smart transport system with the launch of driverless transportation by Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The launching event took place on the opening day of MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition held recently.
Dubai’s First Driverless Car Experience
In order to give the public a sight of the smart transportation future of Dubai, a video of 55 seconds was released. The video depicts very well the future of transport in Dubai and how the driverless vehicles will change the whole outlook of the Dubai Transport System.
Driving Force behind the Driverless Transport Future in Dubai
The Dubai Autonomous Transport Strategy was revealed and the authorities announced that 25% of all transportation trips in Dubai will become smart and driverless by 2030. Which will play a significant role in making Dubai the smartest city in the world. The main driving force behind this initiative is to make the most advanced transport technologies available in Dubai and to make the economy of the city highly sustainable.
Partner Authorities for the Project
Dubai will have smart transportation in future and this project is a joint venture of the RTA Dubai and Dubai Future Foundation. The main strategy of this project will revolve around four fundamental pillars which are as following:
- Individuals
- Technology
- Policies and Legislations
- Infrastructure
