In framework of the Capital’s traffic master plans, Abu Dhabi Municipality has started upgrading five motorway rest areas.
The areas allow motorists and others to have their food in the way and go shopping as well as fitting out parking and traffic system and untighten congestion and make the roads safer.
The first area will be allocated in Ghantoot which witnesses a great amount of traffic and finite services. Whereas, the other rest areas are planned on the E75 lorry road and other areas across the capital emirate.
Commenting on the project, the municipality pointed out that it tended to boost travelling experience for motorists and road users communing between the emirate of Abu Dhabi and the Western and Eastern Regions, the Northern Emirates and Oman.
“The municipality has developed a master plan that identifies five strategic locations that will benefit from the improved amenities, and the rest areas will be located near major junctions and occupy about 16,345 square meters,” it said.
The whole plan is invested by the private sector and is going to be set on akin designs in Europe and North America.
The ultimate aim of this project is to help boost the wider economy by linking it to other public-transport infrastructure projects.
Lastly, the municipality added that more details will be out in the upcoming months.
