The cars sport in United Arab Emirates will get a new push this year with the readiness to launch a new national rally championship designed to take advantage of the magnificent desert landscape of this country to hold a huge desertrally. The UAE desert championship will be offered to ensure the future of rally sport at the local level in addition that this championship will take the oldest motor sport in the country to new levels locally and globally as well. This move comes to meet the increasing demands from the motor sports’ associations in the state and demanding a new series of professional racingevents for cars and bikes which are held within a natural environment with a greater attention to the safety of competitors in this championship.
The opening series of 2013 – 2014 season composed of four races similar to “Baja” race and these races are held in each of October, November, January and February, and include four categories which are cars, buggy cars, motorcycles and the quad bikes.
The new tournament is organized by the UAE Federation for cars and motorcycles with a full support of the Emirates Automobile Club and the national committee for motorsports in the country. This move is the first cooperation of its kind between the two sides which came three months after that Dr. Mohammed bin Sulayem held the position of chairman for the UAE Federation of cars and motorcycles in the country and after the special directions of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan who is the minister of culture, youth and community development and the chairman of General Authority for Youth and sports in UAE.
Commenting on the launch of this new Emirates desertchampionship, Dr. Mohammed said: “first of all, I want to thank Sheikh Marwan bin Rashid Al Muallaforhisgreat efforts that he made during his presidency of the Union which formed the mainstay of all that will be build in the future of this sport and this competition is the first step on the construction and developmentroad. Also, he added: “we will work very hard to support the new tournament and our goal is to make it one of the best national rally championships in the history of UAE, and I am confident that we will get the appropriate support and welcome from all parties and committees in the country in addition to the competitors plus the support from many companies and even the sponsors of this event”.
