Nissan Company developed a new smart digital rear view mirror that guarantees a clear vision for the driver that enables him to see from every angle what is happening on the back side of his vehicle under all circumstances, whether the sun is disturbing the vision or there is a tall passenger in the back seat that is blocking the view, this new smart mirror can also overcome the water vapor conditions that usually condensate on the back of the car and make an unclear view.
The Japanese company stated that this smart mirror is formed of an integrated LCD display, and by pressing a single button, you can turn from the normal glass rear view mirror to the high definition rear view camera in the back of the car, a feature that preserves the usual experience of a glass mirror with the ability to turn to this amazing new technology with the press of a button.
Nissan also confirmed that the presence of dirty glass or the presence of wide objects at the back of the car will not hinder the view ability of this new smart mirror, they also added that this smart mirror will filter direct sun light and the front lights of cars coming from behind so that it won’t disturb the smart rear view mirror image and this guarantees a perfectly clear rear view no matter the circumstances surrounding your car.
Andy Palmer, the CEO of Nissan incorporate explained that this new system helps to give more freedom in the design rules using this new smart mirror as the designers can make adapt more appropriate and fitting shapes, add to that the possibility to reduce the size of the back windshield, this idea opens the door for more great and unusual designs that companies can utilize in their future models.
Nissan announced that it will start implementing the new smart mirror in race cars participating in Luman 24 hour’s race planned next summer. We will wait the drivers’ experiences with this new mirror especially that a race track is a perfect platform for testing this new technology.
It is also the company’s intention to mount this new smart mirror in sports model provided by Nissimo Company specialized in making modifications and enhancements in Nissan models but it will initially be tried in the Japanese market then the company plans to start with the process of implementing this new technology on a global scale in 2015.
