What about tires that can help power your car? Tire experts Goodyear unveiled this newly invented concept at the Geneva International Auto Show and its promising to be the next revolution if indeed it is rolled out. Although Goodyear did not expound much on the concept, the basic idea is to convert the heat that tires accumulate into energy which can be used to power an electric car. With this, the car valuation for the electric and hybrid cars could change significantly.
The tire has been branded BH03 and the company has singled out a number of ways to collect heat through the tire and to push it to good use. First, the BH03 comes with black patches intended to directly absorb heat from the sun. If you are one of the people who usually park in the open, then this is technology that you need to learn more about in the car market. The second way is to collect the heat generated through tire friction on the road and redirect it to powering cars. Finally, whenever a tire flexes, there is heat generated and this will also add to the equation.
While this technology is still in Goodyear’s development books, it brings a very interesting addition to the electric car rating. There are several other aspects that could come up in the coming years but the BH03 remains one to watch as it moves into production.
