When someone talks of about an Exotic car, the first idea to run at the back of your mind is the high cost of these cars during car auction. Other than purchasing an exotic car, there is much more to ownership than just the purchase price. In fact the cost of operating any car has built in financial considerations. Owning an exotic vehicle isn’t that different than owning just about any other car from routine maintenance to actual repairs of the car parts to improve its performance and functionality. What this allows us all to see is what it costs to own say a Lexus GS compared to a BMW M5. As a car enthusiast you already had to identify price for these cars in your head to be about double for the M5.

They don’t price tires by the type of vehicle but rather by size and performance car rating. From Ferrari to Lamborghini and even a Ford Focus cars need tires and they are all sold the same way. Many exotics actually deliver horsepower at a highly efficient rate resulting in what we all call “good gas mileage”. The Lotus Elise, for example performs well and still delivers around 27 miles per gallon. That will take a big bite out of ownership with even moderate driving time. Where an exotic car may need suspension tuning, maintenance and alignment adjustments just like the common grocery getter they are much less likely to ever need expensive repairs.

One thing you don’t want to be mean with on any cars is in selecting a high grade oil and filter in addition to keeping them changed regularly. It may be that the manufacturers of commuter cars do not recommend higher grade lubricants though they mention the benefits. Exotic cars have spark plugs as well as Commuter cars. Newer vehicles across the spectrum burn fuel on a much more efficient scale so spark plugs last much longer.
