The GCC Traffic Week 2016 will be held in Dubai this year with its logo stating “Your Decision Determines Your Fate”. The Road and Traffic Authority (RTA) have finalized its preparation for the GCC Traffic Week to be held from March13-17. The message is clear from the Traffic and Road agency that they want to communicate the people; the hazards associated with the use of mobile phones during driving.
Message from the CEO of Road and Traffic Authority
The CEO of the RTA Road and Traffic Agency Maitha Bin Adai told media that the traffic week will shed maximum focus spreading awareness in all different segments of the society; especially the younger generation. The purpose is aware them of all the safety measures of driving and the important traffic rules to avoid fatalities occurring from dangerous accidents. She said that aim of this event was to help people understand the life risk associated with the use of mobile phones while driving.
Why Use of Mobile Phones While Driving is Dangerous
It is always a matter of seconds that leads to fatal accidents. Reading a text message on mobile phone while driving takes 5 seconds of your attention away from the road. The time is good enough to cover the length of a football ground at 88kph. The distraction caused by the use of mobile phones can lead to the most dangerous consequences.
Major Attractions of the Event
The main event will be organized at the Mall of Emirates. There will be an interactive stand and the promotion of the Salma Magazine will be done by the Smart Gadgets. The American University of Dubai will also host few events. The RTA Team will distribute the leaflets at Emirates Patrol Stations.
The Smart App and 3D Screening
A smart app of RTA will be explained at the event as well and the screening of a film using 3D interactive technology will also take place to highlight the risks of using mobile phone while driving.
Interactive Questionnaire Sessions
The event will also feature a questions and answers session between the public and the administration in order to enhance the exposure of common people towards traffic rules. The Children Corner will be set to distribute the Salma Magazine.
Reception party for the GCC Delegates
The RTA’s CEO told that a reception party has also been planned for the GCC Delegates who will be coming to assess the experience of the RTA team in Dubai and their contribution towards educating people about traffic rules to reduce fatalities.
