RAK Police has introduced its new traffic awareness campaign with the theme of “Commitment”. The new traffic awareness campaign will have an objective to make the motorists more careful in their driving habits by issuing fines and other penalties on the spot when a violation is made. The Road and Transport experts in the UAE had earlier called for more active visibility of Traffic Police on roads and this new awareness campaign seems to follow the experts’ advice. But to the misery of reckless motorists, on the very first day of this campaign, 31 traffic tickets were issued and 8 cars were impounded for committing serious traffic violations.

Traffic Violations Penalized in One Day by RAK Police
There were a number of different traffic violations made by motorists on first day of the start of new traffic awareness campaign that will be continued for next two months.
Following are the chief offences conducted by motorists causing them heavy fines and impounding of their vehicles:
- Over tinting of Car Windows
- Driving Without a License
- Driving with an Expired Registration Card
- Driving without Wearing Seatbelts
- Tailgating
- Over Speeding
- Lane Swerving
All of these violations are not only the problem of RAK but also everywhere else in the UAE. The careless driving attitude of drivers has pushed the traffic authorities in RAK to punish reckless drivers on spot so that they feel bad for committing a traffic violation and suffer from the penalty without any delay. Along with the 31 traffic tickets issued and 8 cars being impounded, 15 drivers were also advised to observe traffic rules.

Official Statement on the New Traffic Awareness Campaign
The Commander-in-chief of the RAK Police, Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi said that the new traffic awareness campaign has been brought into action with fines issued against the careless drivers. He said it was of great importance to raise awareness about traffic and road safety. On the other hand, the Director General of the Central Operations Department, Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi stated that the newly started awareness campaign will cover all the roads and highways of RAK. The ultimate aim of this new campaign is to develop an accident-free society in the RAK.
