Drones will be used in Dubai from the second quarter of 2017 for monitoring of roads. Drone technology is a modern-day surveillance technology used in multiple sectors like broadcasting, security, science and research and monitoring of roads. Drones are unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) which can be controlled remotely. Drones technology will now be seen in action in Dubai for the surveillance of roads and regulation of traffic. The drones will provide quick information of an emergency situation on a road to the RTA control room which will help to dispatch rescue services without waste of any time.
How the Drone Technology will Improve Monitoring of Roads in Dubai
The drones will continue to monitor the roads 24/7 and that is the real advantage associated with this new technology. The drones will check the roads for accidents and also monitor the major public platforms in Dubai. The live-feed recorded by drones will be sent to RTA control room consistently. RTA also plans to keep motorists in touch with this information through push notifications (on social media and RTA App) so that traffic congestion situations can be avoided.

Benefits of the New Drone Technology in Dubai
According to the officials, the new drone technology will be advantageous for both, the motorists and traffic authorities. The drones will be specially used for monitoring throughout the day and night and report in case of an accident or any other emergency. The immediate rescue help will then be dispatched to the location of an accident, reducing the road fatalities to a minimum.
Another benefit of these drones as understood by some experts is that of using them to dissipate fog by dispensing saline solutions. The drones can also be used to replace the bulbs of traffic lights if needed.
