One-sided nature of the race was a result of a highly modified engine fitted in Nissan Patrol. There were some other modifications too and we’ll talk about them later in this blog.

Astonishing Specifications of the Modified Nissan Patrol
The common perception about Nissan Patrol is of a giant SUV covering hefty parking spaces and being good with its off-road performance. However, the modified Nissan Patrol that took to the race was modified beyond anyone’s imagination. Originally, the Nissan Patrol carries a standard V8 5.6L engine with 428 horsepower and a top speed of 210 Km/h. But the modified version of Nissan Patrol brought to the drag race, had a colossal 1900 hp, VR38 twin turbo engine. This is the same engine which is used in Nissan’s GTR sports cars. Moreover, in order to support such a heavy engine, the tyres of the SUV were also modified. Slick tyres were used for the drag race. These tyres are highly suitable for handling and balancing the SUV while driving in a straight line.
Porsche 918 Spyder had a 608 hp, naturally aspirated 6-Litre V8 engine. Even with a jaw-dropping top speed of 211 mph, it never looked like it could beat the heavily modified Nissan patrol. It is important to understand that the Porsche 918 Spyder is a racing machine as compared to Nissan Patrol that is not a racing car at all and results of the drag race were influenced by the modifications made to Nissan patrol. Under any normal circumstances, with no modifications made to any of the vehicles, a Porsche 918 Spyder can easily defeat a Nissan Patrol in a drag race.
