If you are looking to renew your driving license in Dubai, you should know the following information about this.
This is a simple process, and can be done at any office of the RTA (Traffic Office branch) or mall outlet within less than 30 minutes. You can do this also online, by doing the eye test first, and posting the results afterwards online through the website of the RTA. You can now renew your license from the top four trusted opticians and their branches. These include Yateem, Barakat, Al Magrhabi & Grand Opticians.
The application will be processed within thirty days of the license expiry date. The maximum number of days a customer can renew his license before it expires is 30 days. If applicant exceeded the time limits given for the driving license renewal (mentioned), a monthly fine of 10 AED will be imposed and applicable to a maximum time of four years and two months.
The required documents:
– ID or passport copy with a valid residency.
– A certificate that demonstrates commitment of payments to the adjudged fines due to any traffic laws violations (if any).
– Eye test certificate to be sent electronically with a valid residency visa as for expatriates.

The fees for renewal of driving license are Dhs. 110. You have to come in person to the renewal centre, or use the online service available, where you will register first on the RTA website, then get a personal dashboard from where you can manage your online services including renewing your driving license.
Five steps should be taken to process the renewal of driving license online:
1- Taking an eyesight test with any of RTA-approved eye-sight testing partner.
2- Providing a passport copy together with a personal photograph to the eyesight testing center.
3- Inserting the existing personal file through RTA portal (www.rta.ae) or creating a new one.
4- Paying renewal fees and fines (if any) online by using a credit card or e-dirham.
5- Receiving the renewed driving license at the place designated by the client within four working days from receiving the RTA confirmation message.
You can also renew by calling RTA call centre (8009090), and speaking to the operator, then paying for the license renewal and any fine with a credit card and receiving the temporary license via email. You will receive the permanent driving license by courier, your P.O.Box or RTA.
