Air Bag Explosions Dog the Honda Accord

The Takata air bag defect continues to make its way through the Honda fleet which has led to multiple recalls of many models over a long period of time. Reports show that the problem goes back beyond a decade and that the first recorded incident involved a Honda Accord in Alabama in 2004.

The used car value of this model must be nearly sucked into the drain it is circling owing to the indecision to recall the cars early and find out the root cause of this deadly defect that has two related deaths recorded as well as other injuries due to the faulty deployment. Explanations from Takata reveal that the explosive that deploys the air bag is supposed to fizzle out while releasing nitrogen that fills up the air bag as it is deployed into the cabin of the vehicle. The glitch occurs when the explosive instead burns aggressively and sends hot shards of metal and plastic when it explodes into the cabin.

After all this dilly dallying with safety issues in the Accord you must be surely asking yourself, “What is my car worth?” A really good way out is to do a car sale and let go of the vehicle.
