Albagali Design

Hussain Albagali is a graphic design artist that has expanded his work to the design of futuristic works of art – in the form of cars. At thirty-eight years old, Albagali has transformed into one of the most notable artists. He has designed for major car companies such as BMW, Rolls-Royce and Mini. He has also worked in the marketing and multimedia departments of Desert Group. He has even produced logo designs for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and Sheikh Rashed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.  Outside of the visual art world, Albagali composed and directed a full music album for the Dubai Horse Racing World Cup’s 10-year Celebration in 2003.  While he enjoys drawing and composing music, his passion is creative expression through visual art. He has created designs for military vehicles, architecture and concept cars. This year, his abstract art, usually just displayed as an image has transformed – his medium has become the automobile, and in this case, the Rolls-Royce Phantom. All of Hussain Albagali’s work can be seen on his website at www.albagali.com.

One of his most beautiful renditions is the Rolls Royce Phantom Art Car, that was on display in late 2012 as part of an automobile art exhibition at Abu Dhabi motors, the world’s biggest BMW, Rolls-Royce and Mini dealer. This Phantom, in the showroom along with the Opera Gallery Group, was accompanied by other non-car related art, but it is by far the most unusual piece on display. As you can see, the car’s bottom half is painted almost like a barcode with a curvy “S” strategically placed on each side in red. The top half is purplish color, with a flag of the United Kingdom right behind the back windows on both sides. The hood ornament is that of the original Rolls-Royce, and the rims are simple, as to not detract from the art itself. It is possible that the artistic idea behind this is somehow symbolic of the capitalist world that we live in, negating the need for such extravagancies. Although this is my interpretation alone, the only person who can really explain the influence and reason behind the choices of color and pattern on this car is Hussain Albagali.

Having seen this amazing, beautiful work of art, it is hard to say what Albagali might come up with next. Keep an eye out for his next piece!
