Automobile and Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ACTUAE) was established in 1965 and oversees the 140 events that fill up the motor sport calendar for the UAE. The presence of the club is quite prominent in all automotive events, including exhibitions and races. The club’s Motorsport Knowledge Institute is a division of the ATC that is directed toward educating and training its members and all interested motorsport enthusiasts and the research of the club to increase the academic understanding of motor sports.
UAE Motorsport Star is one of the Automobile and Touring Club’s new projects that has a goal of discovering and developing new rally car drivers in the UAE. As a result of the UAE entering the global stage in all things automobile, it has been the hosting country of events like the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix and the Dubai International Rally. When these types of international events take place and gain popularity, more cash flows into the country and the market, allowing for increase in capital, and then back around again to being an excellent stage host for these events.
The Arab Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTAC) has been a member of the Region I International Federation of Automobiles (FIA) since May 2009. It serves the purpose of unifying all Arab-speaking FIA clubs and encouraging the improvement of motoring throughout the region. To this end, the main duties of the ACTAC is participate in governmental policy decisions about the regulations related to road safety and transportation with heavy emphasis placed on environmental concern, to improve the services offered to tourists, to be the mediator between disputing member organizations, to support new motor clubs and mentor them as they strive to join the FIA and to promote alliances between various club members of the FIA on a global scale.
