BMW 640d Cabrio
The BMW 6 Series Convertible is one of the best convertibles currently in the market of UAE. Among its virtues, those are many, known for its huge manufacturing quality, ride comfort, dynamic performance and plentiful roadside equipment. Its 313 hp engine of the Diesel version tested is an outstanding engine for power, performance and fuel consumption.
To begin and before entering job, I would like to tell that I had no chance to get on the previous generation of this BMW convertible, so I cannot tell you all that this model has improved from the previous generation. However, imagine that, by an overwhelming logic, the new has to be much better in quality, technology and equipment. What I can assure is that, from the first second I’ve lived with this car, the words that have prevailed at all times, are the quality and pleasure.
A stunning plant
The first visual impact is more than good. You see, and feel like you’re at a powerful sports car with a very cut and sexy silhouette. With its 4,894 mm long, the new BMW 6 Series Convertible than the previous model by 74 millimeters. Wheelbase also increased by the same amount, and is now 2,855 millimeters. The width of the car is now 39 mm larger, being of 1,894 mm, while the height was reduced by 9 mm, so it is now 1,365 millimeters.
It’s time to open the door, and welcome us with the smoothness and solidity of a good BMW. Then I decided to sit down and, in that instant, I encountered two problems. First is the front seat. Here, they were covered in nice soft leather black color and high quality. However, they were my little envelopes and it was not too ergonomic to feel fully integrated into them.
The second drawback was that some plastics are basically the black lacquered present in the most visible part of the dashboard and the covering of the screen of the HVAC system which, while not bad, in my opinion should be of better quality. Otherwise, the rest of materials are very good, and the leather is not only present in the seats, also on the dashboard and the door panels.

For starters, as a good BMW price, the driving position is perfect. So, whether you like to go in a low position, as high, very comfortable and go find all the controls in the ideal position to drive in comfort. The board, oriented towards the driver, is one of the design elements typical of the brand. The center of the dashboard, which hosts the Control Display of the iDrive screen, the central air vents and the controls of the audio system and climate controls are oriented slightly towards the driver. Also, the shifter, the keys to activate the parking brake, the hood and the control system dynamic performance, are recessed in the driver’s side and opens onto the front passenger side surface.
As might be expected, all controls have a flawless operation, offer a tremendous touch, and order and logic prevails overwhelming. From all that we are inside the BMW, highlight the new dashboard black-panel technology, in which the instruments themselves round a sports car combined with modern technology display. Although this is a picture of virtual instruments, offers plenty of information and have a very good resolution and can be clearly seen, even if they are open from the top in sunny days.
Generation Connectivity
Navigation systems, telephony and entertainment control standard with iDrive control unit, which includes the Control Display of innovative design, which opens in the new BMW 6 Series Convertible screen. The onboard monitor is, for the first time, a separate screen, which series is 7 inches. When combined with the optional navigation system Professional, this screen is 10.2 inches, framed with a galvanized chrome trim and high quality. The screen has a minimum thickness, so it can be described as flat screen. The new arrangement of Display Control, more towards the passenger compartment, also determines the configuration of the instrument panel. Its strong vertical position and its protruding position in front of the driver and passenger, corresponds to the typical style of very fast boats.

Once fondled all, and having cleared that BMW’s engineers have done a good job for the driver to have at their disposal a wealth of information and gadgets to enjoy driving top-level, decide to access the rear seats to see how they are. First of all, I am one who, when you have a cabrio in hand, does not try to give more prominence than they deserve to the rear seats and the boot. That said, I agree to the rear, and for that I have to pull a mechanical flange that facilitates the fold down seat back forward. Later, you have to press a button to an electrical system the sidewalk slide into the same position. This solution is designed to win in comfort of use, although I think the whole process is rather slow and heavy.
With the front seat placed in its original position, and the capsized car, not noticed a great feeling of space in the rear seats and, although there are certain limitations in width and have no armrest in the center of the seats, I feel comfortable without big problems.
A quite capable trunk
Once the rear view is left the 6 Series interior to address the trunk, Pulse of BMW logo to open it, and I find enough space, namely 300 liters when the roof is open, so you can enter into it, for example, two golf bags 46 inches, along with a business case (see picture). With the roof closed the variable positions vain that the hosts can move very easily and with one hand up, which increases the luggage capacity to 350 liters. For me it is more than enough.
After reviewing everything, I cannot wait to drive and enjoy the pleasures of this car. I am about to pull settings to adjust the seat and steering wheel, and when I meet as if the car would have done me-as if the seats were better, the feeling would be perfect. Mated to the controls, the feeling is pleasant … especially for the comfort offered by this car in static, the quality of most materials and, of course, on the steering wheel. This essential control for driving-something-abused by many manufacturers will complement the BMW, its size is ideal; it is solid, generous thickness and is manufactured with materials of high quality. Although I rather like ruffles finite ring, I love it as it is, so I can think and put one hits.
