Although our cars are financially expensive, our safety and our families’ are priceless. Breaks are installed in our cars for this specific reason; and hence, maintaining them is the most logical procedure that we should take regularly. Bellow we list some pieces of advice on how to choose your breaks, prolong their durability, and most importantly, ensuring your safety.

  • Since it is not arguable how essential is the breaks system in your car, you don’t want to be reluctant financially when it comes to replacing your old brakes. It is recommended to choose performance over cost when changing the brake pads and rotors. When you choose the brands that you trust will get the breaking power, style and performance you need.
  • It is important to regularly check your brake fluid and make sure that it is good and that it is at the designated levels.
  • It is also necessary to change the brake fluid every while. It is good to know that when the brake fluid gets a milky color, it means that there is a water or condensation infiltration to the fluid; and it means that you need to change the brake fluid. Ignoring this may result in destroying your master cylinder in the brake system and deteriorating your wheel cylinders.
  • It is not enough to change the brake fluid in your car; you need also to add new fluid into your master cylinder system.
  • It is essential to check the brake pads and rotors to make sure that they are in a good condition. You can do this check by removing the tire and inspect the brake pads. If you cannot view the pad because of much wear, it is the sign that is telling you that it is time to replace them.
  • To get all the air from the breaks, you need to bleed the brake lines. it usually requires two people to execute it: one pumping the brakes and the other watches the bleeder valve, closing the valve once brake fluid begins to flow through.
  • It is not good for your car when the brake fluid pressure forces the brake caliper pistons against the rotor and the hydraulic pressure starts getting low because of the lining wear; it means that the braking power is greatly reduced. This requires that you pay immediate attention to the brake system and check it immediately.

You may expect to replace the brake pads, rotors and wheel wear sensors often, especially if you are doing a lot of stop and go driving.
