Cyber-attack is one of the leading serious crimes that are on a raise in the world today. This has put car operated by onboard computers especially autonomous vehicles on a high risk. Jeep has faced the problem of being hacked which has led to Chrysler to announce a formal recall for 1.4million vehicles that may be affected by a hackable software vulnerability of the Uconnect dashboard computers. This vulnerability was discovered and demonstrated to WIRED by security researchers by wirelessly hacking a jeep moving and gaining control of the dashboard functions, steering, transmission and brakes. This kind of attack is a compromise to the security and affect the functionality of the Dubai cars.  The recall doesn’t actually require Chrysler owners to bring their cars, trucks and SUVs to a dealer, instead they will send a USB drive with a software update they can install through the port on their vehicle’s dashboard.

The company has taken a measure to tackle the digital attack through network-level security measures which are security tools that detect and block the attack on Sprint’s network, the cellular that connect Chrysler’s vehicles to the internet. The recall aligns with an ongoing software distribution that insulates connected vehicles from remote manipulation, which if unauthorized, constitutes criminal action. Some cars from the automakers like jeep, Chrysler and Dodge have been recalled. This greatly affects the Car-Sales of these company car already in the Dubai car purchase business.

The software manipulation addressed by this recall required unique and extensive technical knowledge, prolonged physical access to a subject vehicle and extended periods of time to write code. With that attack, a bill of cyber security has been introduced that requires a car to be designed with certain security principles such as isolating, physical components from the internet connections and including features that detect and block attacks. This will increase the car assessment on the cyber-attacks and enable them to be dealt with.
