Over the years, research by auto manufacturers has continuously indicated that the colour of a car remains a top determining factor in car buying and selling decisions. Some car owners have even at one point sold a car just to change the colour and others have invested in serious body works for this sole purpose.

A report from the 2015 Detroit Auto Show made a particularly interesting observation; most sports cars were mostly represented in classic red while white remained preeminent in other models. Being a multi-billion industry, it is clear that this kind of indication points to high investments both in money and time dedicated to customer behavior research.
Are white cars inspired by “Apple Effect”?

It is generally believed that the rise of the white car in the last 10 years despite having dipped significantly in the 80s can be attributed to the era of the iPod and iPhone. Apple introduce their products in all white and it was very well received in the market especially with the different chrome and metal finish designs. Car market design experts believe that the pride associated with this smartphone era also caught up with auto manufacturer thus giving a rise to the white car.
