DTC Beefs up Taxi Fleet by 300

The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has beefed up its taxi fleet by as much as 300 new cabs this year under a public transport plan to augment the number of taxis operating in the Dubai Emirate to meet the rising public demand.

The DTC recently succeeded in a bid to buy 300 new taxi plates offered by the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) to all taxi franchise companies, including the DTC.

“We are thrilled with the winning of this auction which will increase the fleet of the Dubai Taxi Corporation to as much as 3,854 taxicabs operating round-the-clock including public holidays,” said Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi, Acting CEO of the Dubai Taxi Corporation.

“The taxicabs of the DTC, characterised by their distinctive red roof tops as well as clean and well-maintained interiors, are fitted with safety and security features and tracking devices via satellites,” he added. “The DTC mapped out a plan to deploy these vehicles gradually into the fleet between July and September. The public taxi service is available 24 hours a day. Customers can order this service through calling the booking and despatch centre (04-2080808), or hailing taxis at parking slots, pick-up and drop-off points as well as taxi ranks at Dubai shopping malls, business centres, hotels, and metro stations among others,” said Al Hammadi.
