Dubai Police has asked motorists to report minor accidents through the Dubai Police App in order to avoid blocking of traffic, long delays and serious traffic jams. The day by day increasing traffic jams in Dubai caused by minor traffic accidents have become a serious traffic concern for traffic authorities. Dubai Police has urged motorists to report minor accidents that involve a maximum of four to five vehicles through the Dubai Police App. Authorities have warned motorists against waiting for the Police patrols to report the minor accidents as that can cause frustrating traffic jams.

Official Statement about the Use of Dubai Police App
According to Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, the Director of Smart Services Department at Dubai Police, it just takes three minutes to report an accident through Dubai Police App. There are no complicated steps involved in reporting the accident so anyone can easily do it. There is also a guide inside the app in Arabic and English language that can help motorists in using the Dubai Police App to report a minor accident.
After a driver has reported a minor accident through the smart app, Police officers will check all the data and information available and issue a report in just 15 minutes. A copy of the report will be sent to the drivers involved in the accident and also to the insurance companies. Drivers need to add the following information about the accident in their report through the smart app:
- License Plate and License Number
- Picture of Damaged Vehicle
- Phone Number and Email Address of the Driver
In a situation where two drivers are not sure of the party at fault, it is advised by Dubai Police that both drivers should report the accident independently with pictures and details of the incident through the Dubai Police App. On receiving the information, Police will decide the driver at fault and deal with the incident accordingly. If Dubai Police finds it tough to determine who caused the accident, both drivers involved in the accident will be called to the Police station for further investigation.

According to the figures of Dubai Police, 121,266 minor traffic accidents were recorded by Dubai Police in the first eight months of 2017 and only 9,064 drivers reported the minor accidents through the Dubai Police App. Last year 16,665 minor traffic accidents were reported through the App. This is the reason why Dubai Police has now urged motorists to be careful when involved in a minor traffic accident and not wait for the patrols to arrive at the scene to register their report. Motorists can easily report minor accidents through Dubai Police App in just three minutes, which will help in avoiding a traffic jam situation caused by the vehicles involved in the accident obstructing the way of other vehicles.

How to Report a Minor Road Accident in the UAE
As discussed earlier, a minor road accidents is an accident that involves just two to five vehicles. Such an accident should only be reported through the Dubai Police App. Listed below is the stepwise procedure of reporting a minor road accident through Dubai Police App:
- Download the Dubai Police App from Android Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Click on “Report an Accident Service” in the App. A map will appear to record your location where the accident has occurred. There will also be a warning message to move to a safe place while reporting the accident and not to obstruct traffic. Make sure that the GPS or Location Services are turned on so that the app can record your location more accurately.
- Click on the “Report Button” in red color and list the number of vehicles involved in the accident. A maximum of five vehicles can be listed while reporting a minor accident.
- Choose the type of vehicle such as motorcycle, car, bus or truck.
- Open the camera of your phone and take a picture of the damaged part of the vehicle.
- Enter the information about the driver responsible for the accident.
- Click on the “Options” to enter the details and cause of the accident.
- Enter your phone number and email address so that Police can send you the accident report in the email that you can forward to your insurance company.

Motorists can report a minor accident through Dubai Police website, www.dubaipolice.gov.ae by sending a picture of the damaged vehicle.
