There is a new technology called eCall system which is to be installed in European cars after being given a go-ahead by the European Union.  This system works in the way that it contacts emergency services in the event of a crash, as determined by in-car sensors such as those triggering the airbags in cars. This system establishes an audio connection with emergency operators and automatically transmits basic data including the vehicle’s type, location and the time of crash. It also has an extra alternative that enables passengers and witnesses to be able to activate eCall manually by pressing an in-car button. This system will enable save lives of causalities after accidents since in the car history, car accidents are never unavoidable.

The European Parliament has over years had the dream and goal of reducing the deaths and the severity of injuries on the roads so, this system will enable health personnel give first aid as soon as possible to save life. The eCall system will be availed to the public for free without any charge for all citizens no matter the type of the vehicle whether used cars or new cars purchased from the automotive export and the system installation will be done at a relatively low price. This system will only be active the moment a car crush occurs else will be dormant.

The system is also expected to reduce emergency response time by 40 percent in built-up areas and 50 percent in the country and it’s expected to save as many as 2500 lives each year. However, the system is still facing challenges from both car manufacturing company and some members opposing the mandatory rule of loading all cars with eCall system.
