The Fastest Car : Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

The Bugatti Veyron dubbed the fastest car in the world has received acclaim for being the Car of the Year. It attains top speeds of 431 mph. It does this with an 8 liter quad-turbo charged W16 cylinder engine. In a class by itself, the Bugatti can only be compared with the sporty Lamborghini Aventador – as a second only in producing speed, durability and resilience. It moves from 0 to 60 mph in the space of 3 seconds with a 1001 horse power engine. To get this much power four turbochargers have been added to the engine producing a maximum of 18 PSI – three times that of its engine. In addition to this two V-8 engines have been placed in line with each other. This total combination gives the Bugatti a thrust that is admirable.

The transmission is unique with 7 gears, a dual clutch system, sequential shifting and a paddle driven computer-controlled shift driven system. This transmission harnesses the 1001 horsepower and about twice as much torque as any of the previously made sports car transmission.

Aerodynamically, the Bugatti is streamlined and venture-shaped to add to down force. Additionally, wings have been put in place to increase this down force. Snorkels adorn the rear deck vents, and scoops bring the air to the engine and rear brakes.

The Keating Bolt

A massive upset seems to be on the horizon to the Bugatti Veyron, in the Keating Bolt. It moves from 0 – 60 mph in 2 seconds. It is a car of speed and exclusivity, this according to Vijay Pillai of Max Garage. It has a V8 engine, an estimated 1800 horsepower and a top speed of 260.1 mph.

The manufacturers of the Keating attribute these extraordinary features to the supercharger that is bolted to the engine. Because of this feature, the engine outputs range from 1000 to 2500 horsepower with fuel economy of 30 mpg.

The competition between the Bugatti and the Bolt is slated between August and September in 2014 in Dubai. Controversy swirls as many claim the Bugatti will stand this test, while the Bolt manufacturers declares themselves the winner by far. In addition to the supercharger that has been added, the Bolt manufacturers say that the vehicle is light weight, being made of an aluminum space frame chassis and carbon/Kevlar body panels. These keep the curb weight to approximately 2645 pounds. Can the Bolt live up to its name?
