Bosch manufactured fuel pumps that were at the heart of the recall by South Germany based car manufacturer BMW and the Japanese Nissan are at it again and this time the culprit are car models from Volkswagen Group. Automotive sale by the German car maker may take a dip in form as the manufacturer scrambles to work with Bosch so as to come up with replacement fuel pumps for the affected units.
The Audi A3 is among a trio of models called back by its parent company as it seeks to re elevate its car rating so as to retain the trust of the faithful lot who engage in a car search and come out the other end having chosen their product. The problem with the Bosch supplied pumps is that their nickel plating could flake off and thereby increase the friction within the pump and cause a failure.
Documentation from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) relates that there are no accidents, injuries or deaths it is aware of that are attributable to this issue in the VW Group vehicles. The report further intimates that there are not enough replacement pumps to give out to the affected units and as such notices to bring in cars for repair will be issued at a date down the road.
