Renowned German car maker Volkswagen has recalled an estimated 80,000 units of the Touareg SUV alongside other models and brands under its wing in order to address potential fire hazard in the form of fuel leaks.

The car maker, headquartered in Wolfsburg, has had a pretty high and steady car rating in the car market and as such people have come to expect top notch quality when dealing with products from the manufacturer due to its rich car history. Statements from the car maker intimate that in the United States alone, around 27,000 units are being recalled.

Volkswagen goes on to further explain the problem, stating that it may arise due to vibrations when driving as well as some production issues that could spring leaks in the fuel delivery system. As yet there have been no related fires or injuries reported but the car maker intends to fix the issue as in timely a manner as possible.

Alerted to the problem through customer complaints of fuel odor, VW carried out independent investigations and initiated the recall so as to replace seals and fuel injector rails free of charge on the side of the customer.
