Mercedes-Benz recalled just a little over 147,000 units of the 350 sedan of the E model due to a fire hazard under the hood of the car.
The car rating of the product from the German car maker dropped considering that the reason for the recall was a direct potential threat to the life and wellbeing of the occupant of the automobile. Parent company Daimler AG got to know of the glitch under the hood through its monitoring and evaluation mechanisms and claims it thereafter dutifully notified the national Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
After a thorough car assessment the company found out that a rubber seal at the back of the engine bay may temporarily stick to the hood when it is opened and then may fall into the engine bay when the hood is closed. If the rubber seal falls into the engine compartment, it may contact parts of the exhaust system, increasing the risk of a fire.
Dealers were order to stop selling the cars till the problem were rectified and pre owned cars could be brought in by the owners for a ten minute fix up that could render the problem rectified.
