We are truly fortunate to live in a society where we have so much choice. There are cars for every conceivable person, height, width, personality, taste and budget. Each car can have it’s own ‘’thing’’. For example when I say James Bond, what car do you think of? Exactly. With the plethora of choices, you just have to pick.
Of course the manly men that seek power and working class quality will always seek out Ford. I dare you to not think of a Ford muscle car when you hear the word ‘’powerful engine’’. It’s really hard not to, isn’t it? Their designs and engines just ooze testosterone and even when it’s parked a Ford muscle car can manage to look faster than anything on the road.
But muscle cars are not the only things that Ford can manufacture. Their trucks are incredibly powerful and reliable, especially on their super duty models. It seems that the United States military agrees with this statement. If you are not familiar, the ground forces of the US army use lightweight ( at least compared to tanks) vehicles. They may be less armored, the their mobility is very useful on the battlefield. As you can guess, wars are not usually fought on nice, well paved roads so rough terrain. And here is where Ford comes in with their massive V8 engine. The Ford Power Stroke 6.7 L diesel engine will be peering out of each of the new Valance vehicle hood.
To justify this, United States army representatives responded with the fact that they chose these engines because Ford has a reputation for being dependable and putting out excellent models. Before the new Valance vehicles, the Humvee was the workhorse of the army. And surely giving the contract to an American country is a smart move as far as they are concerned.
But does this Ford Power Stroke 6.7 L diesel engine really deserve this praise it’s getting? Or is it some other cause? Well if what you seek is a short answer, then the answer would be a resounding yes. First of all, the model has an impressive degree of durability and toughness. You can really tell that it’s well put together. And honestly, it needs to be because of the rugged terrain it is going to transverse. Basically a decent engine used for military purpose must be like steel. It must bend and adapt, but it must also be tough and rigid enough to survive anything you throw at it.
This V8 from ford is arguable one of their most fuel efficient designs in relation to size and power. And ultimately we, the ones hearing this news filter all that we hear through our own subjective experience. The truth is that it’s hard to really know if the US army made the right call, but just being nominated for this kind of job shows quality and reliability. Those owning a Ford can be proud of this accomplishment next time they climb behind the wheel. Think about that on your next car search.
