Four Emiratis volunteers from the Emirates Automobile Club who are participated in the organization of motor sport events in the country qualified to become managers of the local and international motorcycle events in the state.
Each of Mohammed Shatery, Saeed Marzouki, Mohammed Hashemi and “Taeebah Darmaki received “Event Manager” license issued by the International Federation of Motorcycle “FIM”, the international body that supervises the motorcycles sport. Dr Mohammed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Emirates Automobile Club and the national motor sport body, and the official representative of the the International Federation of the Motorcycle “FIM” in the UAE gave the licenses to the new managers.
Bin Sulayem said: “This is a new achievement and another step forward in our efforts to make the United Arab Emirates self-sufficient in organizing and managing the motorsport events, and according to the highest international standards with focus on ensuring the safety of all those involved in the event”. The new officials was honored and handed over the International Federation of Motorcycle licenses after they finished an intensive course which held over two days in the UAE and was under the supervision of officials from the International Union for motorcycles.
Bin Sulayem said: “The course examined the volunteer’s knowledge with the latest laws and regulations of the International Federation for motorcycles especially for the International events. These young people have been trained here in the UAE, we are proud of their achievement and they are proud too”. The four Emiratis in addition to a large number of UAE nationals are among more than 1,000 volunteers which are members of the volunteers’ motorsports club which was founded by the Emirates Automobile Club in 2009 with the aim of managing the growing number of motor sport events in the state.
This International Federation for motorcycles licenses will enable the new directors to manage the activities of motorcycles as an “Events Managers” and take responsibility for managing all operations inside the ring which including the safety of the contestants, officials, rescue teams and attendance. The young people will be able to also work as rulers for the events by doing the analysis of the accidents and determine fines or irregularities that should be issued. At the same time, they will be able to oversee the activities of the other rings’ officials.
The UAE is cooperating with a large number of sport motor events and the most prominent event is the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge which is a one round of the world long desert rally championship for cars which also includes classes of 600 cc engines and other engines for beginners.
