GM Recalls Half Million Units of Chevrolet Camaro

General Motors has recalled over 500,000 units of the Chevrolet Camaro due to an ignition switch fault that closely resembles the one that thrust the renowned American car maker into the limelight albeit for the wrong reasons. On that occasion, the auto manufacturer recalled a number of cars that was well into the millions.

The Camaro is an impressive car and many give it a car valuation that is high due to its continued appearance in director Michael Bay’s blockbuster movie series Transformers. Even without this bit of car history, the sporty car holds its own comfortably against others in its segment owing only to the proven car information and performance.

The reason for the recall of such a large number of units of the car is that there is a possibility that the driver’s knee can inadvertently bump against the key fob causing it shift from the ‘Run’ position thus leading to a reduction in or loss of power. The car will coast to a stop and this can be dangerous in case one was cruising in the fast lane of busy highway.

General Motors admitted to having knowledge of about three crashes involving Camaros and these resulted in injuries.
