The Dubai Police have designed new Radars to detect the hard shoulder violations. These radars will have the high-resolution cameras to support them record the violations. The radars will also have the sound detectors to detect the motorists crossing on the hard shoulder. The Dubai Police will make sure that no motorists can commit hard shoulder violations in future by detecting them with the 20 Radars which will be set in Dubai. Some serious penalties were also announced for the offenders. The Commander in Chief of the Dubai Police, Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina stated that these radars will prove to be a significant help for the Dubai Police to catch the irresponsible drivers committing hard shoulder offence.

What is a hard shoulder violation?
A hard shoulder violation is recorded when a driver enters the lane close to the yellow/white mark on the road. This lane is also called an emergency lane. Getting too close to the yellow mark increases the danger of collision with the parked cars and can also deteriorate the flow of traffic. Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina told that driving at high shoulder hinders the movement of the Ambulances and Traffic Police vehicles and can lead to serious accidents.
Penalties Announced for Hard Shoulder Violations
In line with the announcement of the new radars, the penalties were also announced for those committing the dangerous hard shoulder violations.
Following could be the possible penalties if you are found guilty of committing this offence:
- Confiscation of the Vehicle for One Month
- Dh600 Fine
- 6 Black Points on Your License
The aim of these new radars is to discourage the motorists in Dubai from committing this dangerous traffic offence. They can easily avoid the stringent penalties by respecting the traffic rules and staying away from committing hard shoulder violations.
