Hatem Neto, the Saudi champion and the driver of the “Mountain Dew Saudi Gear” team was able to maintain his general ranking in UAE championship for drifting among the top three despite the dramatic events that shook the team in the last round on the International Yas ring in UAE.
After the team booked for the tournament and started the training in the ring with the rest of the competitors, everyone noticed that Hatem is coming to win the title. The team reprogrammed the engine to deliver 575 hp and a torque of 498 N / m but during the qualifications, the team noticed that there is an electrical problem in the car and the problem was solved in the last moments which enables Hatem to participate in a single round in the qualifications which guaranteed him a place in the final and through this round, he hauled on some points that contributed to keep him in the third place in the championship.
As soon as the competition started, the team discovered that the light weight of the body was not able to bear with the high power of the engine which was specialized to this competition and the hood of the car opened in the face of the driver through the competition. Interestingly, Hatem did not stop and did not reduce his speed but he continued to compete until the last moment and he was forced to stop the car to avoid any cause of problems for the competitors’ drivers. Hatem went to the second round to prove for everyone that he is the strongest in this competition but his points were not in his favor.
Everyone was waiting for the final result of the final round where if the captain Ahmed Al-Amri (UAE champion) won the first place, his points will be equal with Hatem Neto and the Emirati champion Ahmed Al-Amri was able to take the first place to raise the level of competition and tension in the ring. Hatem Neto was very happy with the final result of the championship and he said: “We were one of the toughest competitors for the championship title and we were able to take all the points to our side but we were late in processing and starting with the championship this season which affected the team achievements. Despite of these problems, we were able to stay among the top three and we won with the third place in this championship”.
