South Korean car maker Hyundai is yet again at the heart of another car recall, this time calling back the sedan that was christened Elantra. The sedan is being recalled for a matter that was until recently not very much considered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to be a safety concern.
Due to the recent number of safety concerns in the car sale industry, the NHTSA has come under scrutiny by Congress in the United States. This has in turn forced it to crack the whip on non-conforming car manufacturers as relates to safety concerns; a key element of car assessment.
Hyundai has called back a whopping 205,000 units of the Elantra sedan due to a problem with its power steering mechanism. This is one piece of car information that is sought out by potential buyers in their soon-to-be purchases because it makes steering the car less stressful. Even without the power steering, the car can still be operated though steering at lower speeds will require greater effort from the driver.
The Elantra from the model years 2008 to 2010 as well as the model year 2009 – 10 Elantra Touring are at the heart of this recall as Hyundai tries to fix this problem.
