By 2016, most cars will contain an integrated smart phone according to a new report from the “Juniper Research” company which is specialized in the research of wireless technology and based in Britain. In addition to the integrated smart phone, the cars will be provided by intelligent communication systems offered by companies such as “OnStar” which will help the growth of this sector to 14.4 billion dollars in four years and will be awarded 92 million cars with internet access.
This technology will not only provide a navigation system “GPS” and the flow of the music from the network based on satellite only but for example, it will also open a whole new market of remotely information services where there are some cars’ companies nowadays provide these services such as “GM’s OnStar” and “BMW Assist” companies via specific subscription plans. These advanced technologies which are associated with are able to guide the emergency services to the scene automatically and assist the law enforcement agencies in locating stolen cars, and even disable the cars in some cases.
Ford company was the first in this area through its synchronization system from Microsoft which enabled it to be one of the first companies that integrate smart dialing and advanced functions such as voice recognition in the non- luxury cars. Another American company which is General Motors Company is actually using the smart communication system which is called “OnStar for My Vehicle – FMV”. This system can be added to cars other than GM’s cars in order to provide locating, traffic, safety and other services.
The following step from GM Company is to provide a communication system with coverage of its least expensive models through an optional stereo system that depends entirely on the smart communication system to offer advanced functions rather than building all that within the same system which is the normal procedure. For example, the “Chevrolet Spark” budget for the production of “micro-car” model which will include a high-quality studio in addition to a large touch screen, and this touch screen will work on the basis of the driver’s smart phone. This means that if the user wants to listen to music through any program, the system will deal with it simply as a channel and displays any operation on the driver’s phone rather than processing the display of the same data. It took a lot of software development with the help of “Samsung” company to make the system compatible with all smart phones.
