The new speed limit is 80 Km/h while motorists will continue to avail the grace speed of 20 Km/h. According to Lt. Col Abdullah Al Yamahi, the speed limit will also be changed on the Wadi Al Helu Road and the new ring road. Wadi Al Helu Road is the road that links the Mleiha Street with the eastern region while the new ring road has recently opened, which makes the speed limit change on these roads a significant development.

Lt. Col Abdullah Al Yamahi explained that the change in speed limit is part of the efforts made by authorities to achieve the road safety objectives in Sharjah. - AED 2,000 fine, 12 black points and 30 days confiscation of the vehicle for speeding 60 km/h above the speed limit
- AED 3,000 fine, 23 black points and 60 days confiscation of the vehicle for speeding 80 km/h above the speed limit
