Ford Expedition is one of the most favorite large-size SUVs in the UAE that also double as family vehicles. Being called “Unstoppable” by Ford, the 2018 Ford Expedition is a new and improved model that was unveiled just a few days before the start of the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show.
Although Ford has yet to announce the price of this family SUV, the brand has revealed information about the vehicle. The 2018 Ford Expedition has been redesigned extensively to shed a lot of pounds and become more agile and efficient.
The 2018 Expedition has been given the same intensive aluminum architecture as the Ford F-150 pickup truck and that has helped this SUV to lose 300lbs. As compared to the outgoing model, the 2018 model offers increased number of safety and entertainment features.
An updated engine, new transmission and a more efficient system are just some of the highlights of the all-new Ford Expedition. Here is a review of the 2018 ford Expedition that explores its design, performance, safety features and updates.
Design of the 2018 Ford Expedition
Redesigned to be more impressive and good looking than before, the 2018 Ford Expedition has a very eye-catching build. The exterior is sportier and classier, while the interior is now more spacious with best-in-class third row space.
Exterior
Even though the 2018 Ford Expedition has been redesigned, one can still recognize the signature Expedition appeal underneath all the changes. The vehicle appears more upscale now, especially at the front with the cheese grater-style grille.
The grille is flanked by full LED headlights, daytime running lights and halogen fog lights so that the driver enjoys greater visibility even when driving in unfriendly conditions. Chrome trims can be seen around the grille, headlights, fog lights and around the lower bumper for a more stylish appearance.
Large air intakes at the front serve dual purpose, firstly it brings an aggressive look to the front and secondly, it helps in keeping the engine cool at all times. The hood of the vehicle is sculpted with sharp lines, which ensure that the vehicle faces less air resistance.
Moving towards the sides of the 2018 Ford Expedition, one can easily notice a strong character line that runs below the side windows. This character line is responsible for giving the vehicle a sharp and striking look and make it look more luxurious.
The wheel arches are rounded and well-defined to add curves to the overall square look of the vehicle. The power-folding running boards add a touch of elegance and utility to the sides of the vehicle, while the roof rack side rails at the top of the vehicle add utility by increasing cargo capacity.
The front of the vehicle has tow hooks whereas the rear of the vehicle has a single 2-inch receiver hitch behind the black-out panel. The optional power liftgate can be activated by using a kicking motion under the bumper for a hands-free experience.
The stance of the vehicle is wide and commanding thanks to the 17-inch machined-face aluminum wheel, while there are options for 18-inch magnetic metallic painted cast aluminum wheels, 20-inch luster nickle-painted aluminum wheels, 20-inch ultra-bright machined aluminum wheels and 22-inch polished aluminum wheels.

Interior
The interior of the 2018 Ford Expedition is impressive, spacious and can easily seat 8 passengers. It all begins with the ergonomically designed dashboard that has been taken from the Ford F-150 pickup truck.
The addition of this gorgeous dashboard has taken the look of the cabin to an entirely new level. The front of the cabin features 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat with manual recline function and power lumbar support, however, there is also an option of 10-way power adjustable driver and passenger front seat that comes with power recline function and lumbar support.
As for the rear of the cabin, the second row features a 40/20/40 split folding bench seat that also comes with Outboard Slide and CenterSlide seats. The third row comprises of a 60/40 PowerFold Recline seat and a 60/40 flat folding bench seat. All seats are upholstered with fine cloth, but there is also an option for leather-trimmed front bucket seats.
In-cabin comfort has been a priority for the designers at Ford and this is the reason why the all-new 2018 Ford Expedition has been fitted with Single Zone Electronic Air Temperature Control System with rear auxiliary climate controls (Dual Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control System is optional).
The cabin is also fitted with the latest technologies to further enhance the comfort of the occupants. Right in front of the driver is a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls while a 4.2-inch color LCD display has been added to the center stack for infotainment purposes. The 2018 Expedition comes with SYNC that is the “Enhanced Voice Recognition Communications and Entertainment System,” 4 USB ports, SiriusXM Radio, four 12V power points and a lot more.
