Twenty years later, here is the true heir of the original Twingo. Some design elements are directly inspired R5: the shoulders well marked and the angle of the rear window reminiscent of the famous rear-engine R5 Turbo, which marked his era. The front end incorporates the details of the new Renault brand identity with a logo clearly visible on a black background. The new Twingo boasts an expressive front end, with the large headlamps highlighted by the direction indicators and the LED daytime running lights round that combine technology and a reminder of the previous Twingo.
These design elements give the new Twingo looked nice and sturdy, with a light signature that emphasizes the personality claimed by the small Renault. Just like the first Twingo, the new model will initially offer a limited range of colors and dynamics: blue, white, yellow and red. The body will be for the first time in five-door, with hidden rear door handles, special characterizations graphics and color options and even the ability to equip the vehicle with the sunroof.
The large tailgate glass is a part with the modernity of the original rear of the new Twingo. The rear lights are perfectly integrated in the extension of the tailgate glass. The mechanical scheme has inspired designers, who wanted to pay homage to the very bad Renault 5 Turbo rear engine 80s style with some details, such as the inclination of the large glass rear window and the shape of the pillars and muscular rear wheel arches. The reduced dimensions of the mechanics were allowed to re-think the cockpit, but that will not be revealed before preview in Geneva.
Meanwhile it is known that the front axle, which will therefore be free from traction rear now offers a turning radius much more beneficial, thus improving the handling especially in citizen. The front end, with the large Renault logo at the center, is characterized by indicator and LED daytime running lights. Renault does not have the time to spread any information about the engine, however, it should be confirmed that it will be a 3-cylinder 900 cc turbo petrol 90 bhp. Further details will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show.
