Car manufacturers have always put safety as their utmost goal while creating their cars. While some cars rank high in the safety ladder, others remain dangerous and chances to make an accident while driving them is relatively higher. According to various studies, some vehicles have death rates exceeding 100 per million registered vehicles.
One of the studies focused on 2011 model car reveals that nine vehicles with an overall “driver deaths per million registered vehicle years” is zero. Though 8 years ago no vehicle was able to boast a zero for overall driver deaths per million registered vehicle years. over a period of 3 years, the average death rate decreased from 48 fatalities per million registered vehicles for 2008 models to 28 fatalities for 2011 models. While this is considered to be a great improvement , the car rating program that crash test performance has been also getting steadily better.

While car manufacturers race to install more safety tools, or increase the safety standards their is one goal that they all try to achieve: have zero motor vehicle deaths. Though this might be hard to achieve but with some improvements on the vehicles, changes in the design of roads and implementing public policies that help protect all road users, this can be achieved on the long run.
