Clemens Schmid from the team “Naboodah” for racing continued his victories series with his victory in the third round of the Porsche GT3 Middle East championship at Dubai Autodrome ring.
The title holder has stunned everyone with impressive performance ranging from his first place launch to reach the finish line while Karim Al Azhari took the second place and the Bahraini Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa who is participating for the first time during the season took the third place. Thanks to their winning with the first and second place, Naboodah team drivers were able to strength their team superiority in the teams contest. With this title, Schmid adds a new victory to his victories in the last two rounds in Bahrain and this is because he dominated the race from the beginning which extends with a length of 4.3287 km and for the first time, completely new Porsche 911 GT3 cars compete with each other.
After the race, Schmid said: “It was a great result for the Naboodah team and for me too where the first and second places are the best that can be achieved especially in this race which was very hard and interesting. We have made a few changes in the car and these changes have proved success results and gave me the advantage in the race from the begging moment where I felt more comfortable but my team friends continued to pressure throughout the race which made me very happy with this outcome”. His friend “Al Azhari” has started from the second position and maintained it throughout the whole race despite the constant exposure to pressure from “Al-Khalifa” who is the former title holder from Bahrain team which has achieved a close result to him.
The result was fantastic for Al Azhari who deserved to reach the podium for the second time this season. He said: “It is the best possible result where the driving in Dubai has a great privacy and helped us a lot in our quest to defend the teams’ title”. Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum after finishing sixth said: “The race saw a fierce competition but no one can predict the outcome result. At one stage in the race, I went to the tenth place before I can jump back to sixth place”.
The arriving battle to the first sixth places witnessed an intense competition. Faisal bin Laden began the race from the eighth place but he was able to reach the fourth place in the first lap surpassing Chris Nielsen and his friend Abdul Aziz al-Faisal. In the last seven laps, Abdul Aziz al-Faisal regained his fourth position at the finish line and Faisal bin Laden ended in the fifth place where the sixth place went to Hasher Al Maktoum from Skydive Dubai team.
