Not all that glitters however is gold and however much the products of Mercedes Benz are of a high quality, they do have some intrinsic problems in them that result in the company recalling the affected units back to the dealers so that they can be fixed.
The CLK class was recalled in 2008 due to an incorrect software calibration number (SCN) coding. According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the incorrect SCN coding interferes with several electrical functions. Most outstanding among these is the fact that during a crash, the electrical fuel pump may not receive a crash signal that is required for the fuel pump to disconnect and prevent future fuel delivery as designed.
The affected units of the CLK class are from model year 2003 to 2004 and 2006 to 2008.
