Three Emirati drivers are competing for the title of the cars category in the UAE championship for desertrallyafter a strong competition in the third round of the tournament which was held with the participation of a record number of contestants arrived to 96 racers in the four categories of the tournament.
After Ahmad Almqaudi finished the race in fourth place in the penultimate round of the season 2013 -2014 for the rally that looks likethe international“bakha” rallies, he was able to to maintain the overall lead in the cars category ahead of MansoorBlhli and Ahmed Al Fahim, respectively but the title has not been decided yet and it’s available for any of the three drivers to grab it according to the their results that they will achieve in the fourth and final round of the tournament which will take place after two weeks. AsAl Fahimwith his “Polaris RZR” carmanaged to win the titles of cars and buggy categories in the third round that stretched along 18 km in the desert but it still lags in the overall standings behind Almqaudi and Blhli. With this result, the young Emirati MansoorBlhli who is the son of the UAE rally champion YahyaBlhli and he is taking part in this rally with his Nissan Patron car has clinched the title of “T- 2” category in the new local desert tournament.
In the category of “Quads” bikes, the Emirati Mohammed Al Shamsi was able to win the title of the quad bikes category on his Kawasaki 450 bike where the Dutchman Sebastian Husseini who is the most prominent candidate to win the title according to the observers of the race was not able to finish the round due to a fuel issue where his fuel tank became empty and he didn’t complete the round because of that. This result means that the Shamsi leads the quad bikes category by a wide margin and he needs to participate in the final round and finish it to ensure the title. In the category of motorcycles, the British Sam Sunderland – Resident in the United Arab Emirates was able to dominate the round’s title after the big victory that he achieved by leading the seven laps of the championship to win the race easily lead by 9 minutes from his nearest competitors which are Sean Gwagen and Mohammad Baloch.
