Ahmed Al Ameri, the driver of Emirates Toyota team for drifting achieved the second place in the first round of the tournament rescheduled from Emirates drift championship where he introduced a stunning performance in the tour which took place on the circuit of Emirates Motorplex in Umm Al Quwain on January 31, 2014. The first round was supposed to be held on November 22, 2013 but it was postponed due to the not stable weather. The event hosted eight teams competed in the professional category where Ahmed Al Ameriwas able to achievethe second place in the round behind the Norwegian “Frederick Osland”, the driver of “FE Racing” team and ahead of “RefaatYahya”, the driver of “Swap Racing” team.
Currently after this last roundwhich took place recently, Ahmed Al Ameri occupies the first place in the UAE drift Championship thanks to the number of points that he was able to collect in the first and second rounds in the tournament. Ahmed Al Amerisaid: “The competition was tough between the drivers who participating in this big race which making the race very interesting for their fans. The UAE Motorplex circuit is a daunting race track for thecompetitors where this circuit has a very slipperyground track and tight spaces”. Also, he said: “It was not possible to achieve the first place that Ihave made in Emirates driftchampionship for the current year without the continued support of the Al-Futtaim Motors and I am very lucky to represent Toyota where it is the best selling brand in the world as well as it is the first and only automotive brand that support adrift team in the United Arab Emirates”.
He added: “I extend special thanks to my opponent in the last round who is the Norwegian Frederick Aslandfor his high morals and spirit of sports where he gave me the opportunity to use his 5 minutes in order to provide my car with fuel so I can challenge him in the last round. Aslandwith his upscale behavior represents a source of inspiration for all the aspiring and competitors’drivers”. The team of UAE Toyota for drift praised his sponsors for their continued support, including Maxis Tyres which provided them with “Maxxis Z1 Drift” tiresand these tiresare provided especially for the professional drift sport, Extreme Performance and Emirates Technology for Motors where they provided the team with the support and technical supervision necessary all the time. The team will participate in the third round of the Emirates drift championship which will take place on Friday – February 21, 2014 at the Dubai Autodrome circuit.
