Although they are quite far apart and one is outside of the UAE, if you can get to Paris before the beginning of February, you may want to make it to the Festival Automobile International 2014. Of course, the next highlighted event held within the UAE will be the Dubai Motor Festival in 2015.
Dubai Motor Festival 2015
You’d better start planning early if you want to get to the Dubai Motor Festival, which is scheduled to take place during the second week of November 2015. Last year, the festival was a great hit, showcasing a convoy of 500 luxury cars and motorcycles belonging to various members of high society. Being the first of the week-long festival, it accompanied the Dubai International Motor Show that was held concurrently at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The parade featured over 350 makes and models, including the impressive Bugatti Veyron, the fastest street car in the world. After starting on Shaikh Zayed Road at the Trade Centre Roundabout, the parade made its way down Shaikh Zayed for 45 km down near Madinat Jumeirah and then returned back to the Trade Centre Roundabout. That being said, who knows what types of vehicles might make their debuts in 2015!
Festival Automobile International 2014 – Dec 5 – Feb 2
The 2014 Festival Automobile International will hold it’s 29th exhibition at the turn of this year. A collection of concept cars is on display in Paris, and voting is under way for the festival’s famous contest, “The Most Beautiful Car of the Year” for 2013. According to the festival’s official website, www.festivalautomobile.com, the official definition of the car that will be selected is “a four-door sedan, a minivan, an estate car, a two-door sedan, a convertible or an SUV. The model must be registered in the competition by its manufacturer and marketed in the year with a retail price not exceeding €55,000.” The best part about this contest is that the winner is chosen by the general public, not by the manufacturers or by the festival’s administrators. This year, the official candidates are as follows: the Alfa Romeo 4C, the BMW 4-series Coupe, the Mazda 3, and the Mercedes CLA. Four vehicles have already been excluded in the quarter-finals: the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Peugeot 308, the Lexus IS 300h and the Renault Captur. The winner will be announced on January 28 at the opening ceremony and then the car will join the rest of the concept cars in the exhibition. Some of the concept cars that will be on display are Peugeot’s Onyx, Renault’s Alpine, BMW’s i8, just to name a few.
