The holding of this seminar came out of the keenness of the two sides which are the U.S. and the Gulf sides in order to support their joint cooperation plus development and stimulate the trade between them in addition to remove any technical or legislative obstacles can oppose this development and create a kind of convergence in the methods of work in the area of standards and specifications and take everything that is new in various technical areas plus raising the level of knowledge among workers in this sector to meet the requirements of professional work in line with the standards of performance.
This seminar aimed to benefit from the experience of the U.S. system for specifications and technical regulations in general especially with regard to electric vehicles and gas vehicles in cooperation with ADNOC in Abu Dhabi and Enoc in Dubai as well as the control system on the tires. There was a participation which took part in the seminar from representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Environment, Dubai Roads and Transport Department, Abu Dhabi transportation institute, Enoch, Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company and Gargash agency.
Eng Mohammed Saleh Badri, General Director of Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology said that the seminar stressed the importance of the adoption for the international specifications and technical standards of the Global Forum to coordinate the regulation of vehicles and benefit from it in the UAE and on the Gulf level where the aims of this forum is to access to the homogeneity of standards and technical regulations for vehicles and accessories in the world and he pointed out that the seminar also stressed on the importance of coordination and cooperation and take advantage of the gatherings and other international technical committees such as the American Engineers Society of Automotives. Also, this seminar reviewed the most important international standards and regulations in the field of vehicles which can help in the modernization of technical regulations of UAE and Gulf.
He thanked the participants from government agencies, representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the private sector companies where he stressed on the importance of holding such meetings and workshops which aim to see the best international practices in the field of cars. Also, he explained that the seminar discussed the similarities and differences between the specifications of the automotive industry at the level of the United States, the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
