One year ago, the country also led the growth of global automotive sales as the market witnessed 27 per cent growth with total industry volume (TIV) of 310,304 vehicles. GCC recorded 1.49 million sales.
“While the global market is growing by 1.5 per cent this year, the GCC is growing by 10 per cent and this market [the UAE] has grown by 19 per cent so far. So the UAE is the fastest growing market in the world,” Arabian Automobiles chief executive officer Michel Ayat told Khaleej Times at the unveiling of all-new Nissan Tiida 2014 on Wednesday.
It is estimated that industry volume will cross 355,000 vehicles in 2013 and GCC will touch the 1.6 million mark. First seven months results show that the country is on track to achieve the set target, Ayat said. “Next year I can also see another 15 per cent, which is huge.”
The UAE has benefited from the influx of investments from other volatile Middle eastern nations, he said, adding that Dubai’s advantage on candidacy for Expo 2020 has initiated the much needed economy boost with commercial, retail, real-estate and tourism industries set to rise in the coming years.
“I believe Expo2020 win will be a booster for the industry and it will attract a large number of tourists and activities in every sector,” he said.
Talking about Arabian Automobiles sales, he said: “Our growth was more than the market this year till July. Our growth was 23 per cent, which means more market share.”
Arabian Automobiles, the exclusive dealer of Nissan in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, has begun sales of the all-new Nissan Tiida, shaped to complement the lifestyle of the young at heart customers throughout the region.
With dynamic styling looks, advanced technology and class-leading spaciousness, the completely revised second generation of the UAE’s best-selling compact hatchback has everything to build on the Tiida nameplate’s established success. Already commanding 32 per cent of the expanding compact hatchback segment in UAE, Arabian Automobiles aims extend market share beyond 50 per cent with the introduction of the all-new Nissan Tiida.
“The Tiida quickly became the market leader of the C hatchback segment in the UAE after its launch in 2005 and continues to be the most popular hatchback in the region,” Ayat said.
Nissan Tiida’s customers have come to depend on its spaciousness and versatility, both of which have been significantly enhanced for the All-new of this brand. Class-leading spaciousness provides comfortable accommodation for up to five adult passengers while the standard 60/40 split rear bench offers the option of tackling bulky loads.
