2013 was the year of the Golf. During the first six months of 2013, the new Golf GTI have premiered Golf GTD, Golf Estate and Golf TDI Blue Motion, Volkswagen now continues the Golf product offensive with the flagship of the range: the new Golf R. It is available from 39,230 Euros in Spain with manual transmission and from 41,410 Euros with automatic dual-clutch DSG.

The sports car is powered by a new 300 hp TSI engine , which is 30 hp more powerful , but at the same time up to 18% more fuel efficient than its predecessor. Like the Golf R three previous models, the new version also delivers its turbocharged power to the asphalt through a system of permanent four-wheel drive, in this case, is the latest generation of 4MOTION with Haldex clutch fifth generation.

 

Dynamic sport suspension and chassis

The sport suspension system of new configuration (with ride height lowered by 20 mm), the new system progressively address the “ESC Sport” which can now be completely turned off to drive in a circuit – offer performance purely dynamic. Other options include control system DCC dynamic chassis with driving profile selector, introducing the new Race mode.

The Golf R with manual transmission reaches 100 km / h after just 5.1 seconds ( 5.7 in the previous model ), with automatic DSG gearbox , sports complete the classic sprint in about 4.9 faster still seconds. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h. Despite the exceptionally agile driving and 30 hp more power, fuel consumption of the Golf R has been reduced from 8.5 to 7.1 l/100 km compared to the previous model.

CO2 emissions are also improved from 199 to 165 g / km. With the Stop -Start system and battery regeneration, along with the DSG gearbox six speeds, the Golf R is still more efficient. With this configuration, fuel consumption drops to 6.9 l/100 km (159 g / km of CO2). The fuel economy compared to the previous model with DSG (8.4 l/100 km) is 1.5 liters per 100 km, which represents the aforementioned improvement of 18 %.

The new Golf R is equipped with a comprehensive package of exclusive and personalized items. Together with the specially designed bumpers , side sills and alloy wheels of 18 inches, the Golf R can be distinguished visually stunning as a sports vehicle details such as bi- xenon lights with daytime series LED lights new design (double U) , ​​LED taillights in dark red and exhaust system with two outlets with a total of four chrome tubes .
