Road safety has and will always be at the core of Volvo’s interest. We strongly urge motorists never to use a mobile phone while driving as it distracts the driver from the road. It takes only a second for an accident to happen but with drivers fully focused on the road ahead, the chances of this happening are minimized. The use of hands-free or wireless devices should be the only exception if using a mobile phone is absolutely necessary in the car.”

Beiruty added: “In 2008, 2957 accidents took place in Abu Dhabi, resulting in 376 deaths and the injury of 4603 people. This number is unacceptable given the majority of those accidents were caused due to the lack of attention being paid by driver.
